Life is a Journey, not a Destination...
Life is about the journey not the destination. Life is a journey. We came from some place and we are going some place. But life is not about the destination it is all about the journey. So many people are so fixated on the destination, on the finish line, that they miss the significance of the journey. Even if you are running a race, it is the running that gets you to the finish line. But life is not a race, nor should life be a boring trip. Life should be an exciting adventure. It is our failure to appreciate the journey and to be aware of all the opportunities for fun and adventure that causes us to be dissatisfied with our lives. Your aim should always be to enjoy the journey not to see how fast you can finish it. If you dislike the journey you may not finish it, or you will feel that the destination isn't worth it, or you will be in such a bad mood by the time that you finish it that you don't enjoy the achievement, or you will do it so badly that you do not achieve your goal. Think about the last time you went on a trip. What was your focus, to have as much fun as you could, or to get to your destination as fast as you could? How did the trip go? Was it fun? Did those with you enjoy it? Do they look forward to travelling with you again? Think about the last time you prepared a meal for your family. Was your focus on preparing a great meal that you could all enjoy together, or was your focus on getting finished and so you just slapped a meal together? How much satisfaction did you get from preparing the meal? What was your mood like by the time that you were finished? How did that affect the others at the meal? The quality of your life and the destination that you will ultimately reach, is determined by the way that you behave on your journey, so make it your goal to enjoy the journey, look for opportunities to have as much fun and adventure as you can. Take the time to appreciate your journey because your journey is your life.
The Power of Love...
THE POWER OF LOVE...
‘Love, that thing we have great difficulty even describing, is only truly real and lasting experience of life. It is the opposite of fear, the essence of relationships, the core of creativity, the grace of power and an intricate part of who we are. It is the source of happiness, the energy that connects us and that lives within us. ’ All of us need to believe that we are loved and lovable. We began life with confidence on both points, bathed in our Mothers’ love and swaddled in our own innocence. Love was never in question, but over time our certainty cloud. When you look at yourself today, can you still make the two statements every infant could if it had the words? ‘I am completely loved. I am completely lovable. ’ Love is the most powerful and necessary element in life. Love is the beginning and foundation of all interactions. It encompasses both giving and receiving, and allows us to reach above and beyond ourselves; to experience another person and to allow that person to experience us. It is the tool by which we learn to experience the highest reality… To love someone is to want to know and understand them. In many ways, we remain a mystery to ourselves; with the other is the ability to see things from their point of view, even if you disagree with them. Understanding the unique difference between one another could be an inspiration for greater self-awareness and self-improvement. For love to be eternal it requires bonding; a sense of togetherness which actualizes the love from a joint effort. Eternal love requires an intimate connection, kinship and attachment, one that benefits both parties. This bonding yields fruit, the fruit borne out of a union of mutual understanding and respect. Love requires an investment of time and energy in order to develop sensitivity to our own and others’ needs and feelings. Love takes time. It needs a history of giving and receiving, laughing and respect. Love requires an investment of time and energy in order to develop sensitivity to our own and others’ needs and feelings. Love takes time. It needs a history of giving and receiving, laughing and crying…Love never promises instant gratification, only ultimate fulfillment. Love means believing in someone, in something. It assumes a willingness to struggle, to work, to suffer, and to rejoice. Satisfaction and ultimate fulfillment are by-products of dedicated love. They belong only to those who can reach beyond themselves; to whom giving is more important than receiving. Love is doing everything you can to help others to build whatever dreams they have. Love involves much careful and active listening. It is doing whatever dreams they have. Love involves much careful and active listening. It is doing whatever needs to be done, and saying whatever will promote the other’s happiness, security and well-being. Love is on a constant journey to what others need. It must be attentive, caring, and open both to what others say and to what others cannot say… love says no with empathy and great compassion. Love is firm, but when need it must be tender. When others have tried and failed, love is the hand in yours in the moments of discouragement and disappointment. Love is reliable. Love is a choice and commitment to others’ true and lasting happiness. It is dedicated to growth and fulfillment. Love alone can unite living beings so as to complete and fulfill them… For it alone joins them by what is deepest in them All we need is to imagine our ability to LOVE developing Until it embraces the totality of men and of the earth.
